How do I transition to the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act—the CATSI Act?

  1. Fill in a Getting ready for CATSI form [PDF, 12 pages, 48Kb] if you haven’t already.
  2. Update your corporation’s rules and make sure your new rules are passed by the members at a general meeting.
  3. Put your ICN on all your public documents, such as letterhead and cheques.
  4. Your ‘public officer’ becomes your ‘contact person’ (or secretary for large corporations). Read more in our factsheet about corporations moving to the CATSI Act.
  5. In small and medium corporations, the official address of the contact person becomes the document access address. This is where people can see the corporation’s documents and records. Large corporations have a registered office. Read more in our factsheet about corporations moving to the CATSI Act.
  6. The ‘governing committee’ becomes ‘the directors’. Read more in our factsheet about corporations moving to the CATSI Act.
  7. Reporting under the CATSI Act:
  • compliance statement
  • the corporation’s report
  • the auditor’s report
  • list of current members.

These were meant to be lodged by 31 December 2007, so please send to us as soon as possible.
