The Registrar is required to maintain a register of the Indigenous corporations registered under the CATSI Act.
The register contains records for each Indigenous corporation including the Indigenous Corporation Number (ICN), the registered name and the date of incorporation, as well as the name and registered address of the contact person or secretary. The register also contains a copy of the rule book which sets out the rules for internal governance and management of the Indigenous corporation. Key documents that the public can access from the register are listed here.
Please be aware that we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the registering of annual returns on our electronic register. Please do not hesitate to contact our office on 1800 622 431 or info@oric.gov.au if you would like to check annual returns information.
At this stage ORIC’s online register shows a list of the key public documents held by ORIC for any corporation. Some of these documents can now be accessed online. Corporations may request that personal information on these documents be amended or not be published electronically. If they have a justifiable concern, the Registrar may agree to the list being removed from the website or modified as requested by the corporation.
Note: When using ORIC’s online register:
- The ICN listed for each Indigenous corporation is not related to the ABN, ACN, ARBN or ARSN numbers used by some corporations for other purposes.
- If an Indigenous corporation is in liquidation, the contact person/secretary position will be vacant. An Indigenous corporation in liquidation does not have a contact person or secretary.
- A corporation under administration has no contact person or secretary. This position will be vacant.
- It is possible that a corporation may not have supplied ORIC with its contact person/secretary details. If this is so, the words 'not available' will appear.
This Register of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations includes information supplied by parties other than the Registrar, therefore the Registrar cannot guarantee that the information is accurate or up-to-date.
The Registrar does not authorise the use of this register for the purpose of putting a person’s name or address on a mailing list for advertising material. Unauthorised use of the information provided on this Register may result in civil or criminal liability, including under the Privacy Act 1988. The Registrar expressly disclaims any liability arising from the use of this register.

Register of Disqualified Officers
The Registrar is required to keep a Register of Disqualified Officers under the CATSI Act. This Register contains information about people who have been disqualified from managing corporations either by a court or by the Registrar. It will also contain information about disqualified officers who have been granted leave to manage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations. At this stage no one has been disqualified from managing a corporation.
Deceased people
Please be aware that this site may contain the names of deceased people. The Registrar strives to treat Indigenous culture and beliefs with respect. We acknowledge that to some communities, it is distressing and offensive to show images of people who have died.
