ORIC is currently offering information sessions to Indigenous groups who want to incorporate. They usually cover:
If you are thinking about incorporating you may also be interested in our incorporation kit.
ORIC is also busy getting corporations who were incorporated under the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act (ACA Act) to transfer to the new Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act).
This Act began on 1 July 2007 and replaces the ACA Act. Read more information about the CATSI Act here.
One of the main things corporations must do is change their constitutions over to a CATSI rule book. This can be done by downloading an electronic version of it here, filling it in and sending it back to ORIC.
If you need help with your rule book, call us on 1800 622 431.
Corporations have two years to transfer to the new Act (until 30 June 2009). ORIC will be concentrating its efforts on helping corporations make the change. This means the information sessions we usually run on matters like help with meetings and dispute resolution will be postponed in the short term. However, you can always ring us and ask for help over the phone.
